Halloumi is a firm yet springy mixed milk cheese which originated in the Middle East where the earliest known surviving descriptions of halloumi were recorded in the mid-16th century by Italian visitors to Cyprus, where it is often said to have originated.
Stored in brine, it is always sold in packets and this particular Halloumi has a small amount of chopped mint within the cheese.
Because of it’s high resistance to heat, it’s perfect on the grill, on kebabs or simply roasted with delicous vegetables and cous cous. For added special-ness, we love marinading the halloumi overnight in a bowl with oil, honey, oregano, and then grilled until bubbling and crispy.... pure heaven for these Summer months!
