Brie De Meaux
Widely regarded as the King of the Brie, this sumptuous soft cheese has been made on the outskirts of Paris (50kms east of Paris), since the 1930's by the Dongé family. In 1814, the European Tournament at Congress of Vienna, awarded Brie de Meaux the "Le Roi des Fromages" (The King of Cheeses) for its winning flavour and texture. At least 21-25 litres of milk is needed to make a whole (3kg) Brie De Meaux!! This particular Brie is made my the 3rd generation of the Dongé family, Luc and Jean-Michel. They have won the prestigious Medialle d’Or nine times since 2000 (an award usually won only once in a lifetime)... so they kind of know how to make a REALLY amazing cheese.
Fruity, nutty, complex flavours with a glorious creamy texture and white rind. Enjoy this delight with a good Beaujolais, prosecco or a Chenin Blanc.
