Isle Of Mull Cheddar

In 1979, Jeff and Chris Reade relocated from their cheddar-making roots of Somerset, up to the town of Tobermory on the Isle of Mull. They set about doing up a dilapidated farm (called Sgriob-ruadh) and turning it, along with their 3 sons, into a working farm and becoming one one of the island's largest employers. Their hard work and determination has produced a working farm which now has housing for the cows, milking parlours, a biscuit business and a thriving environment for the children and their families. All of this is powered by a hydroelectric plant and two wind turbines!

We think the heartiness of the island is really captured in the cheese. It is full flavoured and slightly drier in texture compared to other cheddars. Braving the elements of the Atlantic means the salty flavours shine through - resulting in a wonderfully powerful cheese with complex herbal flavours.
